The NBA Cancels The First Two Weeks of The Season
The inevitable has happened, the first two weeks of the 2011-12 NBA season have been canceled. Stern explains "With every day that goes by, I think we need to look at further reductions in what's left of the season... The gap is so significant that we just can't bridge it at this time... We certainly hoped it would never come to this."
For the second time in the past 13 years, the NBA will not have a full season. Negotiators for the owners and the players’ union met for more than seven hours on Monday in New York City, but were failed to reach an agreement, forcing NBA Commissioner David Stern to take action. Stars like Carmelo Anthony and Steve Nash took to Twitter to expect their sorrow for the lock out continuing.
The NBA season is expected to begin on November 14th if the lockout manages to end by then. Millionaires arguing with billionaires yet again. This can only hurt the NBA's image from here on out.
