The Growing Myth of the Shrinking Man
Men are under attack! Not so much. Although, with the recent onslaught of media articles and statistics concerning the topic — you would think so. The good people over at the Wall Street Journal decided to write a compelling article about the state of manhood in today's society. With the rise of women competing (if not dominating) in the universities, workplace and home, you can't help but feel that the traditional man is becoming extinct. As stated, men are being "outpaced and outstripped by hard-charging women in every major area of life."
Yet, this is a gross misconception. In fact men are redefining their role in the workplace and discovering new paths to genre busting careers.
This is good news! Yes, the numbers are indeed misleading. The strides for equality in the work place has came across as if women are superior to their male counterparts. Men have shifted their goals from stability focused careers to more meaningful jaunts in the vain of Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Richard Branson. These men have not only changed their industries, but they have changed how we live our lives. Who wouldn't want to take that path?
