Pro Athletes Praise Pickle Juice Sports Drink
We've heard athletes sing their praises of sports drinks such as Gatorade and Vitamin Water, but Pickle Juice is the new kid on the block. The unconventional sports drink initially grabbed media attention back in 2000 when Philadelphia Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder credited pickle juice as the secret weapon to defeating the Cowboys on their home turf that year. The temperatures that day reached over 110 degrees which typically induces cramps in athletes. The Philadelphia players, charged up from Pickle Juice, avoided the cramps and won in a dominating fashion.
Apparently, the practice is still common around today's NFL. Dallas wide out Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten enjoy a good dose of PJ with Witten even endorsing a bottled version called Pickle Juice Sport back in 2006. Pickle Juice Sport founder Brandon Brooks says he provides his product to nearly two dozen teams and more than 100 professional athletes. Will a cold bottle of PJ replace Gatorade someday?
