Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid
It seems that it is very difficult for car manufacturers to be eco-friendly yet retain some sort of stylish car design. You can take a look at most of the 'green' vehicles on the market and deduce that they aren't exactly built for a man's man. Maybe our friends in Germany will be the pioneer in changing that mindset with the introduction of the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid.
The electric supercar made it's debut during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with some powerful numbers: 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 199mph. Making this all possible is a 500-horsepower V8 engine with two electric motors, one at each end of the car. The 918 can run on electric power, gas, or a combination of the two, delivering 78mpg. For a price tag of $845,000 USD, you'll be sure to get your money's worth.
The 918 will run off of standard United States 110V/10A power outlets with a seven hour charge time. Again, the model number has a dual purpose. Only 918 of these cars will be built and shipped beginning November 2013.
