One on One with The Alluring Amanda Salinas
If you're gawking at the sultry photos of Amanda Salinas wondering just where you may have seen those killer looks before, let us refresh your memory. Ms. Salinas was the winner of NBC's Age of Love reality show and can also be seen in a number of Hollywood blockbusters such as Surrogates starring Bruce Willis and summer's Fast Five with Vin Diesel and Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson. Amanda sat down with us for a little one on one.
Where are you originally from?
I was born in the small town, Harlingen Texas, to a Mexican father and American mother and we moved to Mexico right away. It was back and forth between Mexico and the States my entire life!
What was it like growing up betwen Mexico and the U.S.?
Hmm I am not quite sure. We were never in one place long enough to feel like "I grew up there". My family bounced around from place to place every year making me the perpetual "New girl" We moved each year between Mexico, and different cities in Tennessee, where I now live. Knowing I would never be in one place long, I kept to myself. I was a huge nerd, perfect grades and very very VERY few friends!
What are your measurements?
I am 5'5" and wish I could stretch my self to an elegant 5'7"! I am a petite lil thing for sire! My other measurements are 110lbs, 34c bust, 25 waist, and 35 hips.
Give me 5 words that you think best describe you?
Loyal, funny, individual, smart, procrastinator
I love a nice chest and great abs!! That is incredibly sexy!
What would you say is your best asset? What do others compliment you on the most?
Best asset? Hmmm.... physically? It feels so weird to talk yourself up! I would say my eyes. I have worn make up since I was far too young to and always enjoyed playing up my eyes.
Usually I am complimented on my fitness though. A lot of women ask me how to get arms like this or a waist like that and so on. I am always so flattered to be someone else's goal! I grew up a nerdy loner that stared at models in magazines and wished I was like them so it's amazing to have someone do the same to you! I always give them tips or workouts to help them get there! I am a personal trainer and passionate about helping people change their lives!
How long have you been a model?
I have been modeling for about 13 years now. It is an absolute blast! I am still excited and wowed every time I get a new booking!
How did you get started in the business?
Flipping through my magazines and practicing poses or make up and stuff in the mirror... just wishing one day I could do even one modeling job! My mom let me take classes from one of those "modeling schools" in Tennessee at the time, we only did a few of the classes and I decided to strike out on my own and start talking to agencies. I cringe when I see the 1st photos I did and remembering how green I was!
What were some of your most notable appearances?
Most recently I was featured in Fast Five that came out this spring. I have also appeared in Surrogates with Bruce Willis. I was a "kitten" on a reality dating show several years ago on NBC's Age of Love. The bachelor was a professional tennis player who chose me at the end of the show. We dated for about 5 months and that fizzled out. I have been in a number of country music videos, posters, calendars, billboards, fashion shows, and commercials. I love every aspect of this industry!
What do you enjoy most about modeling?
I enjoy that every gig is different. You are not chained to a desk 9-5, inputing the same info, making the same phone calls, dealing with the same people. It's always an adventure! I get to be creative and I meet fascinating people and see wonderful new places.
Outside of modeling, what are some your pastimes?
Outside of modeling, you will either find me in the kitchen or in the gym! I workout religiously! I aim for five days a week but sometimes I can only get in four If I don't get in at least four days, watch out! I won't be the most pleasant soul for a day! I also love to cook! I was turned on to clean eating a few years ago and turned into a fanatic! I am now at the point where I have a home garden for my veggies and herbs. I make healthy meals for my family and share recipes with my friends and my personal training clients. It is amazing what cleaning up our diet can do!
So, tell us what type of man are you attracted to?
Confident but not cocky! It's a fine line. He has to be funny and fun but not take himself too serious. He must know how to relax but also how to play! Someone who has goals and is driven to actually accomplish them. Someone who is creative and maybe plays an instrument as well . I'm attracted to a guy who takes care of and protects the woman he loves and who is supportive and trustworthy. Someone who is good to his family and loves animals.
What trait do you think is most important in determining someone's attractiveness?
One single trait?? I would say confidence.
What part of a man do you think is sexiest?
Ohhhh....I love a nice chest and great abs!! That is incredibly sexy!
How does a man keep you interested?
Teach me new things, have intelligent conversations about current events and his position on each topic. A nice chest and abs won't get you half as far as an interesting conversation!
When it comes to men, what are some of your turn offs?
Being Cocky, excessive foul language, not shaving for a week, and bad breath. Eww!
Would you say you are pretty comfortable with your body?
I would say that finally, at 30 years old, I am starting to accept my body and be happy with myself. I am also working harder on my body than I ever did before. I think I am probably more proud of the hard work!
We've discussed that you travel a lot. What is your favorite city to visit?
I cannot name just one! There are so many places I have not even seen yet. Travel is definitely a huge part of my life. I live to travel. I will save up my money and spend it on trips before I go nuts on expensive shoes or clothes. Those things are nice, but I save my money for travel and good food! I have already been to Egypt, Greece, Australia, Mexico, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Italy, France, Costa Rica, and many U.S. cities.
