Mayweather Family Fued Comes to a Boiling Point on ’24/7′
Over the weekend, HBO's 24/7 aired the first episode following Floyd Mayweather Jr. as he prepares to battle Victor Ortiz on September 17th. Instead of getting a peak in on Floyd's training regiment, we get a front seat between a heated altercation between Floyd and his father, Floyd Sr., whom nearly came to blows during the former's training camp.
Unforutuneately, The show put a spotlight on the strained relationship between Floyd Jr. and his father.
"My training camp is fine, we are okay. We undefeated, we been undefeated, we gonna stay undefeated," Floyd Jr told his father.
"You were undefeated when you started with your daddy," Floyd Sr. shot back.
The argument quickly became heated, with Floyd Jr. informing his father that Roger Mayweather, his uncle and Floyd Sr's brother, was his trainer.
"You're not even close to him" Floyd Jr. said. "No fighter wants to be with you...de la Hoya left you!" in reference to Oscar De La Hoya.
The two eventually had to be separated from each other before the fist started flying.
I'm not the biggest Floyd Mayweather fan, but this did make for interesting TV. Apparently, the on-again-off-again relationship with his father continues to come to a boiling point. Let's see if this has any effect on his upcoming bout.
