Kobe Bryant’s Wife Files For Divorce; Cheating to Blame
Vanessa Bryant, the wife of NBA super star Kobe Bryant, filed for divorce Friday afternoon, citing "irreconcilable differences." The divorce comes 10 1/2 years after the couple was married and 8 years after Vanessa famously stuck by Kobe after he was charged with sexual assault in Colorado. Kobe was eventually acquitted of all charges but publicly admitted to consensual sex with the accuser. TMZ reports:
Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ ... Vanessa -- who stuck by Kobe after he was charged with sexually assaulting a Colorado woman in 2003 -- decided to end the marriage because she believes Kobe has been unfaithful ... again.
As one source puts it, "She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough," adding, "This one is the straw that broke the camel's back."
And our sources say ... Kobe "desperately" wants to win Vanessa back and will do "whatever it takes" to save their 10 1/2 year marriage.
Apparently, Kobe couldn't stop his promiscuous ways even after it cost him millions of dollars in endorsements and an embarrassing public trial. Even more startling, there is no prenup, so 29-year-old Vanessa stands to take half of the empire Kobe built over his amazing 12 year professional career. The question that will be a thorn in the side of Lakers fans will be if Kobe will go the way of Tiger Woods. Will his divorce become a distraction and spark a decline in his legendary career? Will Vanessa become an obnoxious cast member of Basketball Wives? We'll see.
