Amy Markham: Living in the Fast Lane
Some of America's finest women come from well known locations such as California, Florida and New York. However, you don't have to journey too far down south to find some hidden gems. I'm talking about Texas. Yes, the great lone star state and the home of the enticing Amy Markham. Where else could you find a smart, funny and beautiful woman who loves cars just as much as any guy that calls himself a man's man. Let's learn more about this Texas vixen shall we. Get your pen and pad out, she may teach you a thing or two.
Welcome Miss Markham. Tell us, where are you originally from?
I am originally from Killeen/Ft.Hood, Texas. I grew up as an Army Brat, having a father in the military, so I've traveled everywhere. I've lived in Killeen for the longest though, so that's where I consider myself from.
Interesting. I lived there for a time myself. What was it like growing up in Killeen?
The Killeen/Ft.Hood area is very diverse. It's a military town so as a kid, we all kind of had something in common. We all new what it was like to move around, be the "new kid" like 10 times, go to 10 different schools. It's a unique experience. The people there are great though. I like to visit as much as I can."
Texas loves football. What's your favorite team?
University of Texas! UT! Longhorns!
Were you the popular girl in high school?
Not quite. I went to like 5 different high schools. I had a lot of friends, but I didn't consider myself popular. I was a varsity cheerleader, and I did the school news every morning at the last school I was at (was there for the longest) but I still struggled to fit in like everyone else. I was a weird one.:)
High school wasn't that long ago for you! How has entering this industry at a young age been for you?
I think I entered at the right time. At being only 20, I have been published 28 times and counting in the last 6 months. I also have had a magazine spread out last month in June (RUKUS magazine), plus 3 more coming out in the next two months so I am definitely a busy bee. The industry is tough, but I have learned a lot and I have been blessed with a lot of opportunities at a young age.
When did you decide that you wanted to pursue modeling as a profession?
When I had the bright idea to drop out of college! Going from a Pre-Med major to this is quite a career change, but I am glad I did it. I have been able to do things most people don't have the chance to, and not mention the paychecks are nice.
I'm sure the readers would like to know, are you single?
Hahaha No, I am happily taken. Sorry!
So, What are your measurements?
I am 5'5", 107lbs, 32DD-23-31."
Give me 5 words that you think best describe you?
Funny, sarcastic, blunt, not-so-shabby-looking, driven. Whoops, that was 8 words.
I also like men who aren't afraid to get dirty. Pretty boys are definitely not my type.
What would you say is your best asset? What do others compliment you on the most?
I get most of the compliments on my eyes, but I do get lots of compliments on my figure. I would say my eyes are my best asset. It's the only thing that doesn't change no matter how much I eat.
LOL....that's hilarious. Outside of modeling, what are some your hobbies?
Oh goodness. I love cooking. I cook all the time actually. I have to eat a gluten free diet, so that challenges me to convert a lot of regular recipes into gluten free ones. I also have two dogs, both of which are rescues from the local shelter, and they keep me very busy. I guess I could list another hobby as playing fetch. My boxer loves to drag me outside with her, which is a good thing. She keeps me moving!"
What type of man are you attracted to?
I love a man who is into cars, plays Call of Duty, likes to forget how to do the dishes....just kidding! The car part is cool, but I like a guy who has style, who knows how to treat a lady, knows how to cook AND do the dishes, likes dogs, likes football, etc. I also like men who aren't afraid to get dirty. Pretty boys are definitely not my type.
What trait do you think is most important in determining someone's attractiveness?
I honestly think it's their personality. If you don't have a great personality, you end up just being a picture on a wall...just something nice to look at. You want someone to be attracted to who you are, not what you look like.
What qualities do you think the man of the future should have?
He should be charming, funny, caring, sensual...and basically have that one thing you can't run from. Like the thing that just draws you to him, that little something that just makes him irresistible.
When it comes to men, what are some of your turn offs?
Call of Duty. I can not stress that enough. I know it's a man thing, but come on! No one cares about Zombies!!!"
That's two COD references in one article LOL! Would you say you are pretty comfortable with your body?
I guess you could say that. I mean, I still have issues with certain areas but it's just a natural part of being a woman. We all have something we feel we can improve.
What do you do differently to set yourself apart from other models?
For starters, I think it's my personality. I'm pretty good at entertaining everyone on set. A lot of people tell me I have "the IT" factor, which is nice to know. I also think my exotic look helps me out. I look like a mumble jumble of things.
What were some of your most notable appearances?
Well, in the early stages of my career I was doing the whole car show thing. I was on automotive product posters, ads, I had numerous online features with companies and automotive publications. My most notable feature to date is my 4 page spread in RUKUS Magazine, but I really can't wait until Aug/Sept! I have 3 magazines coming out so it's going to be a great month! You can also catch me as the host of BiteMeTv covering tons of cool automotive racing events!
What do you enjoy most about modeling?
It's a really fun job. I get to travel everywhere, go to cool places (on location shoots are the coolest), and work tons of different assignments. It's kind of cool seeing yourself in print or on TV, too.
How does being in front of the camera make you feel?
To be honest, I feel like a totally different person. As soon as the lights are on me, I suddenly get into "work mode". It's fun, yet work at the same time.
What was your most exciting accomplishment?
My first magazine spread. It was for the June 2011 issue of RUKUS Magazine. I had a four page spread, and it was the coolest feeling in the world to see myself in print like that.
What is your favorite city to visit?
Los Angeles. Man, that place sucks you in! Every time I'm there I feel like I don't want to leave. They have tons of great restaurants, cool places to shop, an American Apparel around every corner, it's so cool. I think I like it because it's so different from Texas. Not to mention the weather there is AMAZING!
So, where can we see more of you?
You can see me as the host for BiteMeTv, in the August issue of the Hollywood Weekly, and the Sept issues of Fannatic Magazine and MMA Unleashed.
